New Technology Revenue Streams
Last week, Marriott International announced the Marriott Media Network as a new revenue source for their hotels. The Marriott Media Network will utilize several media channels including "Digital Out-of-Home (in-room television and digital screens)." FiberNet Capital is familiar with this sort of new revenue source from our Entertainment Facilities, and it is exactly what FiberNet Capital's value proposition addresses.
In order to participate, many hotels will be required to, once again, open walls and install new wires to support new screens throughout their property. These new wires will continue the status quo of single-purpose, copper infrastructures, which fail to meet the needs of new revenue opportunities. FiberNet Capital (FNC) installs Fiber-to-the-Edge, Software-Driven, Multi-Purpose infrastructures with the purpose of providing both capacity and physical availability to future-proof a hotel's technical needs.
The infrastructure to support the digital needs of each new screen installed at a typical hotel will require additional equipment in the main hotel communications closet (MDF), new equipment in the lobby communications closet (IDF), new fiber or copper runs from the MDF to the IDF, copper wire runs from the IDF to the new screens, and patch and paint repairs for all the above.
Conversely, at an FNC hotel, it would typically cost less than $200 per screen with limited patch and paint requirements and no modifications in any communications closet. Hotels with FNC "Smart Fiber" infrastructures are faster to market with less costs than hotels with status quo, single purpose networks.

About FiberNetCapital
FNC is a managed service infrastructure company that operates a Network as a Service (NaaS) business. FNC’s NaaS business model is built to:
- Deploy a robust infrastructure to optimize the end-user network services
- Finance the infrastructure and network applications
- Manage and support the infrastructure and network applications
The complexity and speed at which technology is advancing requires new financial thinking that mitigates capital risk while still allowing for proper technology investment. FNC shifts infrequent, independent capital investments to standard monthly operating expenses via an operating lease. FNC’s holistic approach provides a base ROI and builds on that return over the life of the contractual period. Property owners mitigate their capital expenditures, technology obsolescence and operating risk while creating a superior digital ecosystem within their properties. FNC recuperates their investment with a recurring, monthly fee tied to a 10-year operating lease and service agreement.
FNC’s NaaS begins by deploying a Fiber-to-the-Edge, Software-Driven, Multi-Purpose Infrastructure. This “Smart-Fiber" Infrastructure supports all the end-user network services as well as additional applications and systems that FNC will continue to introduce. In this way, FNC creates a dynamic asset and manages this infrastructure for current and future demands.
